Henry County Board District 2 Candidate Zahm releases Baker’s Dozen of Ideas to Reform and Improve the County

(Osco) Orion School Board member and Republican Committeeman Jon Zahm has released a Baker’s Dozen
of ideas to reform and improve Henry County. Zahm is running with a team of three other Republicans against
a group of four Democrats.

“I think it is important to have a plan when you ask people for their vote. The Democrats have controlled the board too long. They have given us a $776,000 budget deficit, a poorly maintained courthouse, limited opportunity for public comment at board meetings, and a policy that allows board members to get paid mileage for coming to regular meetings in Cambridge. Enough is enough. It is time for new leadership on the board,” Zahm said.

Among other plans proposed by Zahm is to cut the size of the Board from 24 to 12 and to oppose the destruction of College Square Park in Cambridge for a parking lot. The 13 ideas and reforms are posted on Zahm’s web site at http://www.votezahm.wordpress.com

“I have been taking this message door to door and event to event and this plan is reflective of much of the feedback I have gotten from folks around the county,” Zahm said.

Zahm, 42, is a married father of twin sons (10) and another son (6) and has worked for 22 years as a political and non-profit consultant. The family lives on a farmette in rural Osco with their two international exchange students. Zahm is a longtime volunteer coach, most recently with Geneseo Youth Soccer, Orion Little League, Galva Youth Baseball and Basketball and the Quad City Cannons Travel Baseball team. Other volunteer involvement and memberships for Zahm include the Henry County Farm Bureau, Geneseo and Galva Chambers of Commerce, Junior Achievement and Osco Community Church.
