Saturday in Atkinson

It was a great day to be in Atkinson for the parade. Everyone is so friendly in town. It is truly a nice place to visit and, I’m sure, to live. A lot of talent comes out of that small town. State’s Attorney Terry Patton, Judge Ted Hamer, Village Trustees Mike Vergane and Ray Elliott, and Henry County Economic Development Chairman Charlie Lotridge, just to name a few.

As Chairman of the County Redistricting Committee I made sure to propose, and help pass, a map that united Atkinson with its natural neighbor Geneseo, rather than Kewanee. Communities of interest should be kept together, and Atkinson folks are far more connected to Geneseo, who they go to school with, than their neighbor to the south.

Congrats to Atkinson on another fun festival weekend.
